IPL 2023 Delhi capitals squad, schedule, and venue details. Devid Warner appointed interim captain for Delhi Capitals in IPL 2023- Delhi Capitals have appointed David Warner as their interim captain for the upcoming IPL 2023 season, replacing the injured Rishabh Pant.
This will be the second time Warner leads the Capitals, having previously captained the team during his first stint with the franchise. Despite being released by Sunrisers Hyderabad ahead of the 2022 mega auction, Warner was the leading run-scorer for the Delhi Capitals last IPL, scoring 432 runs at an average of 48.

The Delhi Capitals have announced that David Warner will lead the team in the upcoming IPL 2023 season, filling in for the injured Rishabh Pant. The decision to appoint Warner was made by head coach Ricky Ponting and the management, who believed that he was the best choice for the role. Axar Patel will continue in his role as vice-captain for this season.
Warner previously captained the Capitals during his first stint with the franchise, between 2009 and 2013 when they were known as Delhi Daredevils. He also served as interim captain for a couple of matches during that period. The Australian opener was bought by Sunrisers Hyderabad in 2014 and appointed as their captain a year later. Under his leadership, Sunrisers won the IPL title in 2016.
Despite his captaincy duties, Warner’s batting performance remained strong. In fact, he has 2840 runs at an average of 47.33 and a strike rate of 142.28 with one century and 26 fifties in the IPL. However, he did struggle with his form in the first half of the 2021 IPL and was eventually replaced as captain by Kane Williamson.
Warner’s white-ball career remains strong, and he will look to use his IPL experience to prepare for the ODI World Cup, which will be held in India later this year. With his proven leadership abilities and impressive track record in the IPL, Delhi Capitals will be hoping that Warner can lead them to their first IPL title in the upcoming season.
